Magpie Beauty Pretty In Pink Gel Collection - Review and Swatches

Hey everyone! It's been a while, if you don't follow me on Instagram, that's where you can mainly find me these days. I've completely fallen in love with gel polish, in part thanks to my new role as Brand Partner for Magpie Beauty, so you can find a lot of gel designs on there now too! I'm going to keep my blog for longer reviews such as this one.

As part of my role with Magpie, I was kindly gifted the brand new Pretty In Pink collection* and I wanted to give you an honest review and some swatches of the collection for you to see! If you have any questions please feel free to message me on Instagram and I'll help as much as I can!

There are five polishes in the collection, and (as the name suggests) they are a collection of pinks, with a mixture of cremes, sheers and shimmers.

I have quite ridged nails on my pointer and middle finger at the moment so I applied a coat of Magpie - Give Me Strength to those fingers in all of these swatches, but otherwise these are totally on my natural nails.

First up is Angelina Ballerina*, which is a baby pink sheer/shimmer. This is the kind of colour that you can decide how many coats you need depending on the look you're going for, you can use 1-2 if you want a more sheer/shimmery look, or 3-4 for full opacity. This was four coats with a coat of Magpie Shine Bright topcoat

Next up is Calla Lily*, which I'd describe as a dusty pink creme. It's come out slightly more pink in the photos than it appears in person. This was two easy coats, with a coat of Magpie Don't Be Tacky topcoat.

Forget Mia Not* is a taupe/lilac sheer. This was three coats although there is a slight VNL. Finished with a coat of Don't Be Tacky

Mother of Pearl* is (unsurprisingly) a pearl, with a hint of pink and purple depending on which light you look at it in. Similarly to Angelina Ballerina, you could vary the amount of coats with this depending on the look you're going for. This was three coats with a coat of Don't Be Tacky.

Last but certainly not least is my favourite of the collection: Vintage Rose*. This is a lilac-y pink creme, and it applied in two easy coats. Shown with a coat of Don't Be Tacky

Of course I'd recommend you get the whole collection, they're all stunning, but if you were to choose just a few I think my absolute favourites are Vintage Rose*, Angelina Ballerina* and Calla Lily*.

What do you think? Let me know your favourites!

  1. Thank you for this Alice. It’s good that you have talked about the coverage and how many coats are needed for different outcomes. Very helpful.
I’ve ordered Angelina Ballerina (looking like my favourite), Vintage Rose and Mother of Pearl. Can’t wait to try them.
