Barry M - Candy Culture Collection Review + Swatches

It feels like forever since I last did a full review. I find that more and more I prefer using polishes in nail art and reviewing them that way, but now and again I can't resist an old-fashioned swatch post. And the latest Barry M Candy Culture Collection* was just too cute to be able to resist reviewing. It's been so cold and miserable lately that it's nice to have some lovely spring polishes to brighten things up a bit.  These gorgeous pastel shades are from the first ever Barry M scented range. I found that they all smelt strong enough that you knew they were scented, but not strong enough that it was overpowering. Barry M claim that these shades only require two coats and dry with a soft matte finish, read on to find out what I thought...

First up is Raspberry Sorbet*, a soft pink/lilac shade. This was 3 thin coats. It dried with a soft matte finish, which I think really adds to the colour. Shown without topcoat.

Blueberry Bon Bon* is a gorgeous bright pastel blue. This again was 3 thin coats, but I easily could have got away with two. Of all the colours I found that this one smelled the strongest, and I'm not sure what it was about the scent but it really reminded me of being a kid in the nineties! Again it dried with a soft matte/ waxy finish, although I did find it to be a bit more shiny. Shown without topcoat.

Coconut Cream* is a grey/lilac shade, I really loved this colour and I'll definitely be doing some nail art with it as a base. This was 3 coats, but again I could have 100% got away with two coats if I didn't have ridges in my nails at the moment. I didn't find this one dried as matte as the other colours, but for me I wasn't too bothered either way as I would be applying topcoat to them usually anyway. Shown without topcoat for the purpose of the review.

Strawberry Laces* is a cute baby pink pastel shade. I found that I needed more coats with this one for some reason, I used 4 coats but I could have got away with 3. Nevertheless, I will always be a fan of baby pinks and I really love this polish. This had a lovely soft matte finish to it when it dried, as promised. Shown without topcoat.

The Candy Culture Collection* is available now online, in Boots and in Superdrug for £3.99.

Have you tried the collection yet? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Such pretty pastel polishes. I've been impressed with the Barry M polishes I've bought in the past too.
