Tutorial Tuesday: Palm Trees + Barry M Matte Topcoat Review

Hey everyone! For the rest of this week I'm going to be showcasing all the new Barry M releases for summer, starting today with their gorgeous new Matte Topcoat*. As it's tutorial tuesday, I decided to bring out one of the tutorials I created for Barry M and combine it with my review. The Matte Topcoat retails at £2.99 and definitely fills a gap in the market. I recently (before this came out) went in to Boots to find a matte topcoat for a friend and I was shocked at the lack of choice for under £5, there was nothing, especially nothing of quality, so I was very excited to see this released. It's also brilliant, which helps, and for that price you really cant go wrong. There are varying degrees of matte, and this is one of the more matte topcoats out there. It's also much more matte than their recent Summer Matte Collection (review coming tomorrow, I know I promised it would be out today but I have a couple of photos still to edit).

Colours used: Barry M - Rose Hip, Barry M - Miami*, Barry M - Huckleberry, Barry M - Malibu*, Barry M - Black nail art pen, Barry M - Matte Topcoat*

Steps:
Step 1: Paint your nails with your base colour(s)
Step 2: Using a make up sponge create a gradient on your nails. The best way to do this is to paint your two colours side by side on a piece of paper and press your sponge into the wet colours. Then press the sponge onto your nail using a light dabbing motion. You may have to repeat this to build up opacity, and it will get messy but don’t worry!
Step 3: Clean up using acetone and cotton buds, and then clean up more precisely using the Barry M Clean Up Pen. Then apply topcoat to smooth out your design
Step 4: Using the black Barry M nail art pen draw a tree trunk, followed by leaves (easiest way is to draw a star-like pattern from the trunk and fill in) and then some mountainside
Step 5: Using the black nail art pen, lightly flick away from the leave to make them look more fern-like. You can also add a few birds if you wish
Step 6: Finish off with a matte topcoat to give your design a unique look, and you’re done!
