Nailvengers Assemble: Untried Polishes - Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens Review

Hey everyone! It's the end of the month so that means a brand new Nailvengers Assemble post. Dont forget to check out Allie over at Brit Nails, Sammy at The Nailasaurus, Lucie at Lucy's Stash and Amelia at xameliax to see what designs they came up with! You can also like our Facebook page for updates. This month's theme is 'Untrieds' and as I have quite a stash of polishes to review building up I decided to use some of them. I've been wanting to use the Sally Hansen nail art pens ever since I received them, and the Rita Ora Rimmel London polishes have been catching my eye too so I combined the two for a simple floral design.

The base of these was Rimmel - White Hot Love*. This actually has much more of a shimmer to it than the pictures show, but I'll do a full review of the collection soon and explain more then. Then I used Orange* nail art pen and Rose Neon* nail art pen to draw 4 dots to create the flowers, and when they were dry I added Black* and Blanc* to the inside. Then I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite (which isn't an untried but I just cant resist it!)

I was really impressed with the pens, they're more like felt tips than the Barry M nail art pens so they flow a bit more freely, but they still have the hardened tip (as you can see in the picture below) so make sure your polish below is fully dry before applying. As you can see from the nail art, the orange did unfortunately run when I applied topcoat. This would probably be less of an issue with a darker base colour, but I can't say for certain. Without this problem I wouldn't have any issues with the collection at all, I think they're all great quality and definitely worth the £6.99 they retail at. You can find them all here on the Boots website or in store.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

  3. How cute! I'm really tempted by these Sally Hansen pens, as I actually find my Barry M white one a bit hit and miss (but I know most people love them!) Sometimes the polish just won't come! Shame about the smudging of the orange one though!
