Hey everyone! These were meant to be on schedule last night and it completely failed on me so I'm finally back with some nail art. Although don't get your hopes up too much because they're not that exciting! These nails were just an experiment, I wanted to use Barry M's textured nail varnish for some nail art, and Born Pretty Store had also sent me some flocking powder to review, so I thought it would be a nice experiment to combine the two. I know I promised some nail art using Lychee, but that shall be coming up in the next few days.
So after applying Barry M - Atlantic Road, I used a dotting tool to paint on Barry M - Greenberry with as much polish as possible on the tool, and then I dropped on some flocking powder by hand (I'd advise using the tweezers, really, I was just having an odd moment - it went EVERYWHERE) and brushed it off using the brush that comes with it after a couple of seconds.
I quite liked the look, but after taking photos I felt that they needed something more, so I scraped (yes, scraped, it wasn't nice) the flocking powder and polish off my ring and pointer fingers as they weren't completely dry, and then I used acetone to clean up in the remaining space, leaving me with 'cut out' hearts, and then I filled it in with Barry M - Shocking Pink. You can see this after the jump otherwise this post will be too long!
I didn't apply any top coat because I didn't want to ruin the 'cut out' look, if you can see what I mean in the pictures.
You can get the flocking powder at Born Pretty Store along with tweezers and a brush for $7.99 here, which may seem like a lot but you can also get 10% off if you use my code KHL91 and it's totally worth it for such a unique effect.
What do you think? Which design do you prefer? Let me know in the comments.

I love both designs :D
ReplyDeleteI like the cut out hearts a little bit more simply because there's more colour. But just the flocking powder looks really cool :)
ReplyDeleteNice combination :D Mani beautiful as always :) The first one for me is too delicate, I like the secound one more :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, that looks so warm and cozy :D
ReplyDeleteI just love the color and textures combination, good job!
ReplyDeleteSo cool looking!
ReplyDeleteI love this with the pink! So cute!!
ReplyDeleteI love the different textures and combos - the one with the pink hearts is my fav!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love this, it's just too freaking adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI like both designs, but I don't think the textured nail polishes are as cool as the OPI Liquid Sand polishes!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome idea, and looks really individual! I like both looks, but I think the 2nd look with the pink hearts is more striking (would have looked nice with pink flocking powder too :-) ) ...I love how in the second look, the pink hearts are smooth on the bumpy Barry M background x
ReplyDeleteI love these nails! I'm not sure which look I like more. They both came out great.
ReplyDeletethese are so cool and they look so interesting! i'm not into the liquid sand polishes but the barry m textured ones look pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteIt's ridiculous how much I love both! :)
ReplyDeleteI love them both! All the texture is amazing
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI tried flocking on my nails last night for the first time... had a hard time getting an even coating. Any tips about that besides just more practice? Also, since it didn't turn out well,I removed and I was wondering if you know how long it hold up, when done correctly and well. My nails don't go through much wear and tear since I'm disabled and unable to work or do much of anything, so luckily things last longer for me than the average person! Curious to know also if it can even get wet? I love the look and with so my time on my hands, I don't mind doing something that would only last a day! By the way, this is the first time I have checked out your blog and from just the little I've seen, I love it! I get frustrated sometimes trying to find quality designs and I've fallen in love with every look of yours so far! There are a lot of good ideas out there, but so often they are executed quite poorly, in my opinion anyway ;*\ As far as the two different flocked looks, I think they are both great! I love designs with different shades of one color and ones with lots of different colors as well! So glad I finally took the time to come to the source of so many nail art pics that I have pinned on Pinterest! You have a new big fan and I will be following your blog constantly now! You are amazingly talented, hoping when I check our your profile information I will find out a bit about your background and if you have had any training or if it's just a natural talent! I can't wait to keep going through all of your old posts! Sorry for the novel length comment by the way!
